It’s not a parade, it’s a prophecy

Posted by Susan Michelle on March 19, 2012

On Saturday morning I woke up and read my Twitter feed. Among the tweets were comments from someone who had marched in a parade that morning and someone who had started walking to end abortion that morning. The contrast of the two was striking to me. Of course there’s nothing wrong with marching in a parade; that wasn’t the issue. Instead, it was the juxtaposition of a society that praises parades and pardons abortion.

While most weekends across the United States, bands, drill teams colorguards, and floats line the streets and show off their talents to a community or even to Times Square, this past weekend 39 women started walking over 270 miles to bring awareness, open eyes, and fight the injustice of abortion by being a prophetic testimony across Texas.

The Back to Life Movement, headed by Laura Allred, is about 39 women making an historic walk from the nation’s largest abortion center to the courthouse where Roe v. Wade began. Women have been training all over the nation since September and last week converged on the Lone Star state to walk these miles, rain or heat, blisters or exhaustion. And this is no parade.

These women aren’t here to entertain you, but to be a living testimony and a prophetic voice to cry out, one woman for each of the 39 years that Roe v. Wade has helped destroy the lives of the unborn in our land.

These women seriously aren’t a parade. Ironically, their permits from the Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) don’t even allow them to be one without violating their TXDOT permits; that’s a logistical issue, but even as far as the TXDOT goes, they aren’t a parade.

These ladies are part of a walk for LIFE, a statement of truth in an age of deception. What looks like a parade of women near interstate 45 between Houston and Dallas is actually a powerful statement of LIFE, crying out for the ending of abortion and the rise of justice in a nation that has decided life and death are in the power of the choice.

Psalm 94 says, “Shall the throne of iniquity, which devises evil by law, have fellowship with You? They gather together against the life of the righteous, and condemn innocent blood” (Ps:. 94: 20-21).

Today’s culture in our nation is no different. We devise evil by law in justifying policies that shed innocent blood. Gathering in Congress and courts, in governments and voting booths, we have stood against the righteous and condemn innocent blood to death.

The back to Life Movement is calling for a decree to reverse the death cries of a nation. The walk not to parade themselves, but to declare LIFE. It may seem a mild contrast to bystanders, but to those who understand, it’s a bold statement with a massive distinction.

The irony of this juxtaposition of a parade and a prophetic act is that many will look at these 39 women and makes the usual comments about “those anti-abortion people making a scene”—and some will do it as they march their kids out the door to watch a parade downtown. The irony may be lost on many as they labor over floats and hang signs.

In Texas, from last Saturday until Good Friday, 39 women are the sign. Putting feet to their faith they cry out for LIFE.

Please pray for these women and the team that is with them. They live stream every day with various testimonies and stories from their journey.

39 Women Embark on Election Year Prayer Journey from America’s Largest Abortion Clinic to Birthplace of Rose v. Wade
Published: Friday, Mar. 16, 2012 – 8:40 am

HOUSTON, March 16, 2012 — /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Saturday marks the first steps to calling America “Back to Life” for a group of passionate young women with a powerful message. Amidst a rally of hundreds, 39 women from across the country, representing 39 years oflegalized abortion, will embark on the 21-day “Back to Life Movement” across Texas – a prayer journey symbolizing America’s tragic path of abortion and for hope and life in a pivotal election year.

The prayer rally and walk launch will take place in Houston, at the country’s reportedly largest abortion clinic, with Back to Life Movement founder Laura Z. Allred,Pastor Lou Engle of The Call, Priests for Life’s Dr. Alveda King, and other pro-life leaders and supporters. The women will walk over 250 miles, marching into Dallas on Good Friday, April 6, to where it began with Roe v. Wadeat the federal courthouse. It will culminate with a massive two-day pro-life Esther Call event of thousands of women, at the Dallas Convention Center April 5-6, hosted by Engle, and led by Allred and others.

“While there are many prominent voices on both sides of the abortion issue, the young, 20-something women – those most directly impacted – often are not heard. This purposeful pilgrimage will bring attention to the post Roe v. Wade generation as they call for hope, healing and action this election year,” said Allred, Back to Life Movement founder.

More than 54.5 million American babies have been killed through abortion since Roe v Wade; however, the pro-life movement is growing. According to Gallup data, the number of Americans considering themselves pro-life has jumped more than 10 percent since 1995. The majority of Americans (51 percent) believe abortion is morally wrong.

“I am walking for the unborn, including my own, and as a post-abortive woman, to bring hope to my generation,” says Tennille, of San Antonio. “Our voices will be heard as we bring this nation Back to Life!

During the walk, participants will share their journey during webcasts on the “Back to Life Movement” site. Some of these courageous women are post-abortive, some are survivors of potential abortion, and others are walking with a passion to speak out for women.

When Women Do Brave Things

Posted by Jim_Daly Mar 19, 2012

On Saturday, thirty-nine young women, each one representing a year of legalized abortion nationwide since 1973, began a walk of 250 miles in southern Texas. Over the course of the next 19 days they’ll cover the distance between the nation’s largest abortion center in Houston to the courthouse in Dallas where the case of Roe v. Wade was first heard.

The journey is being sponsored by an organization called Back to Life, whose founding mission is to stir America’s conscience to the injustice and tragedy of abortion. Their founder is Laura Z. Allred, a woman whose vision for the event is bold and straightforward:

“While there are many prominent voices on both sides of the abortion issue,” she said, “the voices of young, 20-something women – those most directly impacted – often are not heard. This purposeful and sacrificial pilgrimage will bring attention to the post Roe v. Wade generation as they call for hope, healing and action for our nation in this important election year.”

Among the many in attendance at Saturday’s kickoff rally was Pastor Lou Engle of The Call and Priests for Life’s Dr. Alveda King, niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

These 39 women are reminding us that the quest to preserve the sanctity and dignity of every life is no passive affair. The walk is symbolic, but the motive and call-to-action behind the event is very real.

Over the years, some have suggested there’s nothing ordinary people can do to help reverse the effects of Roe, that the matter rests with the Supreme Court, which appears in no hurry to overturn the ruling. Oh, sure, we can write letters and hold signs and pray for a miracle, but the cultural sophisticates often see that type of behavior as symbolic, and not very substantive.

They are wrong.

Prayer is a powerful resource, of course, and through it God does wondrous and mighty things. Marches and rallies are helpful, too. Historically, gatherings of like-minded people have helped to start and build the momentum of great movements. The cause for life is no different. The annual gathering on the DC Mall to commemorate the tragedy of January 22, 1973, is a major event each year.  It’s often held in freezing temperatures, but people do take notice year after year that so many would brave the cold and elements to support women and children.

When ordinary people boldly step out in faith, people in positions of authority are watching. Lawmakers are emboldened by the spectacle and are encouraged to sponsor legislation friendly to the pro-life cause. Consider this report from the Associated Press this past October, about the impact of Arizona’s Abortion Consent Act:

“Abortions in Arizona dropped by nearly one-third in September after a pro-life law went into effect. The state reported there were 729 abortions in Arizona during September — a decline of almost 31 percent from September 2010, nearly 32 percent from August of this year and 39 percent from the monthly average for the last year.”

That’s a significant development and a fine reminder that the incremental action of passionate pro-life supporters can literally save lives. In that same spirit, I hope you’ll join me in praying for these 39 women who will be walking for the next 19 days to call attention to the dignity of life. Please pray for their safety and for the influence and impact of their very public witness. In a culture that tends to ridicule pro-life individuals who publicly support the cause, these individuals are doing a very brave and courageous thing.

WOMEN MARCH FOR ABORTION ALTERNATIVES

More than three dozen women are marching from the Planned Parenthood building in Houston to Dallas over the next three weeks, to promote alternatives to abortion.

By SCOTT CROWDER

“Pro-life activist Laura Allred says some of the women have had multiple abortions and she believes abortion is bad for women.

“We wanted to raise awareness about abortion really targeting young, minority women and about so many other options, like adoption being great.”

Allred says she would like the U.S. to return the days when abortion was illegal.

“These 39 young women represent 39 years of legalized abortion in our nation since Roe V Wade was legalized in 1973.”

Allred says the women are walking a half-marathon each day and they’ll wind up at the Dallas courthouse where the historic Roe V Wade case was heard.

Allred says some of the marchers have had multiple abortions and abortion has damaged their lives.

Allred says the march is along freeways, but they have cars with signs warning drivers about pedestrians ahead. She says they begin the march each day at 10 a.m.”

Back to Life Movement
Laura Allred (right) will lead the 21-day trek to the birthplace of Roe v. Wade. (Melissa Ruiz)

As Laura Allred prayed with other leaders and engaged in what she calls “prophetic brainstorming” nearly two years ago, the Holy Spirit dropped an idea in her heart. She thought it was crazy at first, but loved it all the same.

That’s how the Back to Live Movement was born. And from March 17 to April 6, Allred will see the vision come to pass as 39 young women—one for every year abortion has been legal in the United States—will walk nearly 250 miles from Houston to Dallas.

The goal is to not only raise awareness about the devastating reality of abortion, but to take a stand and break the murderous cycle in the U.S. Each day during the walk, a different woman will record her story and it will stream live on the Internet.

“The biggest thing I’m believing for is that the nation would hear loud and clear from this specific demographic—the very one the pro-abortion community is touting they’re contending for,” Allred toldCharisma.

A believer in prophetic acts, Allred is hoping the Holy Spirit-directed prayer walk inspires somethingsupernatural, just like when the children of Israel walked around Jericho seven times.

“My heart’s desire, first and foremost, is that heaven would hear and these young women would stand in the place of intercession, unlock something in the supernatural and break that stronghold of death over our nation,” she says. “We don’t want to be as much anti-abortion as we want to be pro-life and just exude the glory of God as we walk.”

The 21-day walk will start in Houston at the nation’s largest abortion clinic and end at the Dallas courthouse that birthed Roe v. Wade, the case that legalized abortion.

Allred, who calls Lou Engle and Cindy Jacobs her spiritual parents, traces her passion for the pro-life movement back to her childhood. Now, she’s finally seeing her passion take on a tangible dimension.

The vision began coming to life after she and Engle sent out the “Esther call” last year in search of 39 women who would participate.

“From the very beginning I knew—the Lord gave me a promise—that He had these young women handpicked like Esther all over the nation,” Allred says.

Angela Ford, 23, has had three abortions—her first one at age 14. After the abortions, Ford suffered from deep depression, self-hatred, rage, flashbacks and suicidal thoughts. But since she accepted Christ in 2006, she has held prayer meetings in front of Dallas abortion clinics and shared her testimony in front of the United Nations.

“As a post-abortive woman who knows the guilt, shame and trauma abortion causes, I would like to tenderly call every post-abortive woman ‘out of the closet’ and into the light,” Ford says. “You no longer have to live in your secret shame. There is mercy, healing and forgiveness found in Jesus Christ.”

Although Allred has not faced much public opposition, she expects the voice of disapproval to intensify as the event draws nearer, and she has already encountered spiritual resistance. She and her team members have experienced warfare in different areas—from distractions to a lack of finances—but these women refuse to be deterred from their God-given mission.

“If we have to sleep on gym floors and eat rice and beans for 21 days, we are going to stand in the place of intercession and let our voices be heard in heaven,” Allred says.

She explains that the Holy Spirit has given her a sense of joy and peace when she knows she should be “freaking out.”

“This is something that God gave me a mandate to do, so I know that He’s going to provide,” she notes with confidence. “The Holy Spirit has been all the guidance and the wisdom and comfort and peace that we need.”

REPENTANCE FOR LEGALIZED MURDER IN AMERICA

REPENTANCE FOR LEGALIZED MURDER IN AMERICA

“You say, “We made a treaty with death and an agreement with the grave. When the overwhelming disaster passes by, it won’t matter to us, because we have taken refuge in our lies, and falsehood is our hiding place.”” – Isaiah 28:15

WORSHIP Jesus, who is:

• The Word of God, full of glory, grace and truth (John 1:1, 14). • Our Lord, our Lawgiver, our King, and the only one who can give life and take it (Isa 33:22;

James 4:12). • Thank Him for bestowing blessing upon those who delight in the Law of the Lord (Psalm

1:1-3).

REPENT on behalf of our nation for:

• Denying the truth of God’s Word, which calls abortion sin (Psa 119:160; John 17:17, Rom 1:18-32).

• Disregarding God’s law, which forbids us from taking the life of another (Exo 20:13; Rom 13:9; ; Neh 9:26).

• Attempting to justify injustice and make righteous an abomination by legalizing abortion on demand–Roe v. Wade, Doe v. Bolton (Psa 58:2; 64:6; Pro 6:17-17)

• Looking the other way while evil took place in the judicial and legislative halls of our land (Pro 24:11-12; Ezekiel 22:2, 4, 12-14).

• Our cultural acceptance of the excuse that since abortion is “legal”, it is justified. (Isa 28:5) • The pattern of rationalized sin that was established through the legalization and acceptance of

abortion in our land (Rom 1; Isa 28:5).

DECLARE:

• Jesus is our Lord, our lawgiver and our King and His law is perfect, righteous, pure and it stands forever. (Isa 33:22; Psa 19:7-8).

• Whether abortion itself is labeled “legal” or “illegal” it is still sin because it is murder, as defined by God’s law (Eze 9:9; Rom 2:13; 6:14).

• Abortion will become abominable in the hearts and minds of the citizens of this nation (John 17:17; Rom 12:2)

• A reversal of both the court cases and the legislation at all levels that labeled abortion “legal” when God says it is illegal and calls it sin (Est 8:8).

• An end to legalized abortion in the United States of America (Isa 25:7-8).

In Jesusʼ Mighty Name, we pray. Amen.

JESUSʼ VICTORY OVER DEATH

“In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross.” – Col 2:15 “…death has no mastery over Him” – Rom 6:9

WORSHIP Jesus, who:

• Triumphed over sin and death, swallowing it up in victory! Death has no mastery over Him; He holds the keys to death and Hades (Rom 6:9; 1 Cor 15:54-56; Acts 2:24; Isa 25:7-8; Rev 1:17-18).

• Is seated at the right hand of God possessing all authority, power and dominion in heaven and on earth, with all things under His feet (Eph 1:17-23, 2:6; Mat 28:18).

• Disarmed the rulers and authorities, making a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross (Col 2:15).

REPENT:

• For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood [the abortionists and pro-abortion supporters] but against the rulers, powers, principalities and forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. (Eph 6:12).

• Repent for having wrestled against people in our efforts to protect women and children, instead of enforcing Christʼs victory over the powers of darkness that drive their agendas. (Eph 6:12, Eph 2:2, 1 Peter 3:15).

• Forgive and release those with whom youʼve taken offense and pray that God would use you to bring them to a saving knowledge of Godʼs truth and love. (Luke 6:27-28, 32-36; Pro 16:6-8; 1 Tim 2:4).

PRAY/DECLARE:

• Declare that greater is He that is in us than he who is in the world, so even though we walk through the valley of the death culture of this nation, in the fear of the Lord, we are spared from itʼs snare (Eph 2:5-6 ;1 John 4:4; Psa 23: Pro 14:27).

• Ask God, in the Name of Jesus, by His Blood and through His authority, to bind and rebuke the abortion power, issuing a cease and desist order against all retaliations. (Col 2:15; Jude 1:9).

• Give thanks to God for He leads us in triumph in Christ and manifests through us the fragrance of Christ in every place, and the manifold wisdom of God to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly places, causing even our enemies to be at peace with us (2 Cor 2:14-15; Eph 3:10; Pro 16:7, Isa 54:17).

In Jesusʼ Mighty Name, we pray. Amen.

• That city gates and ancient doors are opening up to the reign of Godʼs truth, justice and righteousness, resulting in a historical, cultural shift that will bring our nation back to life (Isa 40:3-5; 9:7; 61) .

In Jesusʼ Mighty Name, we pray. Amen.
