Aviva & OneVoice June 9th Event

-written by Carisma Reyes

June 9th, 2012 was a day to remember. AVIVA came together with OneVoice at Cal State East Bay in Hayward, CA for the OneVoice Gathering 12-hour solemn assembly. The event began at 9am, but it was amazing to see people begin to gather before it officially started! They began trickling in, blanket or lawn chair in one hand, bottled water in the other. The weather forecast predicted a hot, summer day, which in my amazement, did not hold anyone back! Our purpose? Simple- praying and contending for Revival in California.

The overall outcome of the OneVoice Gathering totaled to a little over 2,000 attendees! Some came and went as their schedules allowed; others committed and dedicated to attending all 12 hours. Young and old were represented, from various races and backgrounds: Anglo, Korean, and African-American. The predominant race that stood out? The Hispanics! Not only was a passion for prayer portrayed, but also a hunger to see the Hispanics rise up and step into the authority they have been given was reflected on that day. Hispanic churches and pastors from throughout the Bay Area came out and showed their support. Not only are Hispanic pastors and leaders beginning to catch the vision of the spiritual shift that is taking place in their communities, but the shift that is sweeping over California. This shift can only be carried through a people who will commit themselves to prayer and fasting. Scripture clearly shows us that,

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves

and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways,

then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

                                                              2 Chronicles  7:14

Prayer is key to changing the spiritual atmosphere over California and our Nation, so that the kingdoms of this world will become the Kingdom of our Lord!

The vision of Lou Engle for the Hispanics could not have been more evident on this day. A few years ago, Cindy Jacobs had prophesied that if Lou Engle would marry the Hispanics, there would be Revival in America! And Lou Engle did just that- he made a covenant with the Hispanics. The spotlight is certainly on the Hispanic Community. It was such a beautiful sight to see Hispanics, young and old, some even struggling with a language barrier, come to a place of surrender and acceptance. Surrendering fear, timidity, legalism, and silence, and accepting courage, boldness, freedom, and a Voice!
